Test Points in Job Tracking Software

In many manufacturing processes where a Job Tracking Software system might be useful, there may also be the need to either establish or to include tests and measurements of various aspects of the item being manufactured. A circuit board might need to meet certain maximum height criteria after components are stuffed, and the board will likely require environmental and operational testing. Food products may require temperature checks throughout the process, both internal and external, along with tastings of batches by trained professionals. And mechanical items such as long-throw horn speakers for concert venues may require a burn-in of the voice coils.

Critical control points for the tests of these items can be included within a Job Tracking Software system. As the item being manufactured travels through the manufacturing process, an electronic “traveler” in the Job Tracking Software system is used to log which particular lot number or batch is at which process in the facility. At certain processes in the traveler, the lot number or batch is then “held” until the testing for the necessary test(s) are complete and the test results are logged within the system.

The Job Tracking Software system can then output the test results as a Certificate of Compliance with the measurements included as text. This CoC can then be included with the finished product when it’s shipped to the customer. The Job Tracking Software can also communicate with an additional OEE module to include graphs and charts of test results such as X Bar & R and IMR, scrap and defect reporting, and other information as required by the customer.

Job Tracking Software can be instrumental on the factory floor in the logging of tests and measurements that a customer may require. Pondering this a bit further, it becomes rather obvious there are other directions this testing can take based on what’s already available. Ensuring a finished product meets its necessary needs and falls within certain safety parameters then becomes as simple as following the instructions given.
